Meet Ali

I provide individual psychotherapy for adolescents and adults, ages 12 and up, who may be navigating anxiety, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, depression, self-esteem, relationship challenges, or significant changes in their lives.

I have a particular interest in helping people through life's transitions—the moments when the life you knew begins to look different and you're trying to figure out what comes next. I have supported clients through many different transitions, including graduating from high school or college, preparing for marriage, becoming a parent, and navigating changes in health and care needs for themselves or a loved one. My experience also includes supporting individuals and families through assisted living, nursing care, hospice, grief, and end-of-life transitions.

My Approach

I believe therapy should be as individual as the person sitting across from me. There is no single approach that works for everyone, and our work together will be shaped by your experiences, your goals, and what feels most helpful to you.

I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic and cognitive techniques, EMDR, and somatic and mindfulness-based practices. When appropriate, I may incorporate breathwork, yoga, and other grounding practices to help you connect with both your thoughts and your body.

Therapy isn't about changing who you are. It's about creating the space to better understand yourself, move through what you're carrying, and decide what you want your life to look like moving forward.

My Background

I was born and raised on Long Island, New York, and earned my Bachelor’s degree from Boston University in 2010, followed by my Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University in 2014. My professional experience has included working in hospice care and providing psychotherapy in a group practice before taking the leap to establish Ali B Psychotherapy.

Outside of the office, you’ll often find me attempting to walk my stubborn Dachshund, Mikko (who would much rather be napping), spending time with good friends and family, or planning my next trip to somewhere I’ve never been. I value time to slow down, recharge, stay curious, and enjoy the people and experiences that make life meaningful.
